WHY SIGN UP FOR OUR KOH TAO RESCUE COURSE?
Ask any experienced diver, and they’ll likely tell you that their Rescue Diver course was one of the most challenging yet rewarding courses they ever took. What’s more, while real diving emergencies are unlikely to happen in calm seas with good visibility, Koh Tao diving sites are the perfect place to take your rescue training as the controlled conditions allow you to master the practical skills needed to manage real-life diving scenarios. However, the focus isn’t only on emergencies. After all, scuba diving is a very safe sport when it’s done right. You’ll also learn how to assist your fellow divers and develop enhanced awareness and problem-solving skills that will make you a more prepared diver in general.
EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE CERTIFICATION
If you don’t have a valid CPR and first aid certificate, you must complete the Emergency First Response (EFR) course before starting your Rescue Diver course. But don’t worry. The EFR program is fully classroom-based and takes less than a day to complete.
Throughout the day, your instructor will provide helpful hints, tips, and relatable examples about how what you’re learning may relate to scuba diving on Koh Tao. This helps you mentally prepare for some of the scenarios coming your way on the Rescue Diver course. However, EFR is not a local or dive-specific program. It is a globally recognised first aid and CPR qualification, valid for 24 months after completion.
You’ll learn, practice, and master a variety of primary and secondary care skills, including:
- Scene assessment
- Barrier use
- Primary assessment
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Serious bleeding management
- Shock management
- Spinal injury management
- Conscious and unconscious choking managementInjury assessment
- Illness assessmentBandaging
- Splinting for dislocations and fractures
Here’s how we do it:
- Small class sizes: The maximum for any course with us is 4:1. However, on Rescue Diver courses, we usually reduce this to 2:1 or 1:1.No strict time limits or schedule:
- We go step by step to ensure you feel fully prepared and confident at each stage before moving on to the next skill set.
- Extra skill practice: You get as much time as you need to master the key techniques, training at your own pace with a customized learning plan.
- A ‘Goldilocks’ balance point: Yes, we’ll push you. But never beyond your limits or to the point of stress.
- Our experienced dive pros will craft a course that’s just the right amount of challenging while still exceeding the standard certification requirements.
- Boutique hotel stays: Our luxury diving accommodation packages ensure you’re comfortable and well-rested throughout the course.
